  Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Deep Blue hotspot?
Deep Blue is a broadband wireless network offering high-speed Internet access from a number of locations across North America. These locations, known as “hotspots”, allow you to break free from the wires and cables keeping you anchored to your desk. Check your email, surf the Internet, or get some work done using the same portable devices you’re already using at your office.

What do I need to connect to the Deep Blue network?
Deep Blue follows the 802.11b wireless networking standard. All you need is a Wi-Fi certified 802.11b card and your portable device, be it a laptop, PDA or cell phone. Many devices shipped today already have Wi-Fi capabilities built-in.

How do I access the Deep Blue network from a hotspot?
All you need to do is open up your favorite Web browser while visiting any Deep Blue location. Our hardware automatically redirects you to a Deep Blue login screen. From there, you’ll be able to create a new account, login to the network, purchase additional access time or surf the Internet.

Where can I find Deep Blue hotspots?
Click here to search for Deep Blue locations.

How can I tell if I'm at a Deep Blue Location?
Just look for the Deep Blue hotspot logo on the door. Also, if you open your Web browser and see the Deep Blue login screen, you’re ready to go – just login.

What if my favorite place to hang out doesn't have Deep Blue?
We’re always looking to add new Deep Blue hotspot locations. If you know of a location that you think would make a great hotspot, be sure to tell the store manager to check us out. Or, let us know where the location is and we’ll follow up.

Service & Support

Can I get online right away?
Yes. Your account is activated immediately upon the completion of the signup process.

How do I subscribe?

Do I need to install special software to access the Deep Blue network?
There is no extra software to load. However, you may need to adjust some of your hardware settings. Click here to view our quick setup guide.

How can I cancel my subscription?

I can’t log in! What can I do?
First, make sure you’re at a Deep Blue hotspot. If you are, make sure that your login information is correct. Passwords are case sensitive, so be careful of that shift key and caps lock! If you’re still having trouble logging in contact customer support by clicking here.

How do I change my wireless card settings to connect at a Deep Blue hotspot?
Click here to view our quick setup guide.

What is the range of the Deep Blue coverage?
Deep Blue is available in designated hotspot establishments. However, due to the nature of the technology, you may be able to receive the signal not only in, but around the vicinity of the hotspot location.

Can I connect to my company’s network through Deep Blue?
Yes. You can connect to your company's network if your company allows remote access. As an extra security measure, many companies use VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks. Deep Blue is compatible with a vast array of VPN's, however, some extra configuration may be required.

For Hotspot Owners

What is required to have a hotspot installed?
Deep Blue provides everything but a broadband connection. A 3rd party such as a DSL or cable provider will need to install broadband service into your hotspot location.

Who installs the Deep Blue equipment?
Our team of specialists will install and configure all equipment at your hotspot.

What will my customers see after the hotspot is installed?
Our equipment is very small and easily hides away under the counter or into a small cabinet. If you require extra coverage, we may need to install small antennas, but will work to ensure that they are as discreet and unobtrusive as possible to your décor.

If I have questions or problems, whom do I contact?
Contact your regional Deep Blue representative, or contact Deep Blue customer support by clicking here.

How will people know that my business is a Deep Blue hotspot?
Deep Blue provides an attractive window sticker, point-of-purchase marketing/support materials along with a counter display to place them in. Just place these items in high visibility locations within your establishment.

How much work is needed to maintain the hotspot?
Maintaining your hotspot requires little to no work from you. If there are any problems, you simply contact your regional Deep Blue rep and they will respond immediately. We will take care of any equipment maintenance or repairs and monitor the network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your regional Deep Blue representative will also work to ensure that you have adequate promotional materials on hand at all times.
